Mbeu boosts management, eyes global stage

Afro-fusion singer Mbeu has boosted his management team with a line-up of experts tasked with penetrating new and international markets.

Afro-fusion singer Mbeu has boosted his management team with a line-up of experts tasked with penetrating new and international markets.

The youthful Zimbabwean crooner is a protegè of Oliver Mtukudzi, the late world-acclaimed musician from the southern African country, who tipped Mbeu to follow in his footsteps on the global scene.

Born Ashton Nyahora, Mbeu is currently recovering from a horrific road accident, which was nearly fatal. Once discharged from hospital, he'll hit the ground running.

The Manera hit-maker, who launched a solo career a decade ago, amid a flurry of hype, believes he is now ready to burst onto the world stage.

"This year marks 10 years since I launched my career, and I am thankful for everything I have achieved thus far," said Mbeu.

"It hasn't been an easy road, mistakes have been made. I am, however, not only maturing, but I'm wiser now in handling my affairs.

"For this reason, I am roping in on a formal basis a team of experts in different fields to be the brand torch-bearers with ambitious targets of strengthening my music and brand."

Media development practitioner Nigel "Kabila" Nyamutumbu has been added to the team to handle the group's media responsibilities and corporate affairs.

Nyamutumbu isn't totally new to the Mbeu brand. He has been around the band over the years, watching his uncle Mtukudzi mentoring the young musician, and becoming close friends with Mbeu.

Nyamutumbu is the son of one of Mtukudzi's four sisters.

He brings a solid experience of networking with a wide array of media and donor partners, having worked in that field for the past 15 years.

He has served as Zimbabwe's national facilitator of an International Training Programme on media, supported by the Swedish government. Nyamutumbu is an alumnus of the prestigious United States of America  International Visitors Leadership Programme.

"I am excited to have someone of Nyamutumbu's pedigree as part of my management and looking forward to tapping into his media international experience as we seek to break into new markets," said Mbeu.
