Top electrical engineer Edzai Kachirekwa says his induction in the Zim Community Trailblazers Awards (ZCTA) Hall of Fame is enough testimony to show his significant contribution to the development of the country.
Kachirekwa, who is the CEO of energy company - Power Giants, was among 15 people and organisations inducted in the ZCTA Hall of Fame at the awards ceremony held in Harare last Friday.
The ZCTA Hall of Fame is a prestigious recognition programme that celebrates the outstanding contributions and achievements of exceptional community leaders and organisations.
“I feel so much humbled by the ZCTA Hall of Fame award because this is a national endorsement, the highest honour any individual can get in his own country,” Kachirekwa said.
“Adversity is inevitable, but triumph is hard to come by.
As a child of this country, I feel I still have so much more to do; considering I have so much work to do especially in areas of drug substance where I need to assist the youths with advice, correct application of good behaviour, abstaining from drugs and benefits of good self-governance through correct application of good quality life skills.
“It’s also an honour that coincidentally that I'm celebrating 27 years in the electrical engineering industry.”
Kachirekwa paid tribute to the organisers of the ZCTA – Perfection Media – led by veteran journalist Albert Masaka and top banker Nigel Chanakira.

He also thanked his wife Evelyn Tinashe Kachirekwa, who is the Power Giants regional director, including the staff at the power company and various organisations such as ZETDC, Zera, Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers, Engineering Council of Zimbabwe, and Harare Institute of Technology University, among others.
The award-winning electrical engineer also thanked the government for creating a conducive environment for local businesses to also thrive.
Kachirekwa is also a recipient of several local and regional awards including the Best Innovative Electrical Engineering Company in Renewable Energy and Electrical Engineering, the Outstanding Professional Excellence Super Platinum Winner as well as the Business of the Year Power Development and Renewable Energy Services Industry Africa Sadc Region award, among others.
Away from the energy sector, Power Giants has partnered a number of organisations, including the government on a number of programmes, including around areas of gender-based violence as well as drug and substance use, among others.
