Tanny Mash turning the tide for Africa

Apart from the TV talk show, Tanny Mash is involved in a number of community development projects targeting the youths.

Multi-talented media personality Tanaka Mashamhanda, aka Tanny Mash, believes she can turn the tide for Africa by using her God-given aptitude to drive positive change and uplift communities.

Tanny Mash is making a mark in the world of fashion, media and philanthropy through her talk show — The Tanny Show — which airs on ZBCtv and on the popular regional television channel DStv with a reach of all 54 African countries and many international subscribers.

Apart from the TV talk show, Tanny Mash is involved in a number of community development projects targeting the youths.

Daughter of prominent businessman Alex Mashamhanda, Tanny Mash has established herself as a dynamic presenter, appearing on various platforms as a speaker, emcee and moderator.

“The Tanny Show is a lifestyle and wellbeing power tool founded on Christian principles that transcend across all perils of life we all struggle with at some point,” Tanny Mash told Standard Style.

“It strives to empower, equip and enlighten to shift the negative mind-set to build a strong nation.

“I’m inspired to see young people get opportunities and platforms to become the greatest versions of them.

“There is so much potential in our young people that sometimes remain at potential, but I have been moved to invest in young lives and let them know how much greatness is within them because of the challenges I faced as a young person.

But how does she balances multiple roles?

“It’s a lot to juggle between TV presenting, my fashion career and all the other work I do. It definitely needs God’s grace,” Tanny Mash said.

“But what makes it all possible and manageable is realising the mission and mandate God has sent me on.

“When you do things that serve communities and thousands around you to impact lives the energy level is different and the motivation is stronger.

“God has sent me to impact lives through everything I do and He has also given me to strength and the capacity to carry out the work.”

Tanny Mash’s educational background of a double major Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics & Management, Higher Certificate in Fashion Design and Certificate in Wellness Coaching, reflects her diverse skills and passions.

“I run a clothing manufacturing company that focuses on school wear, corporate wear, ladies wear, men's wear and branding,” Tanny Mash said.

“Through my work in the fashion industry, I have been able to showcase my design prowess, creating my own wardrobe and inspiring young designers.

“In the media and content creation space, I have amplified my voice, sharing valuable insights and perspectives.

“Driven by a deep-rooted passion for making a difference, I have also dedicated myself to philanthropic endeavours, using my platform to drive positive change and uplift communities.

“I focus on empowering young people in search of clarity — a journey I once struggled with myself. Leveraging this expertise, I have pioneered several impactful anti-drug and substance abuse campaigns in Zimbabwe.”

Tanny Mash continues to explore new avenues to expand her reach and impact, consistently pushing the boundaries and making her mark in the ever-evolving landscape.

“I host provincial U-20 football tournaments for anti-drug campaigns,” she said.

“Last year we had 56 secondary schools boys only, but this year we have 68 schools playing in Harare province all with boys and girls teams.”

She said The Tanny Show in five years’ time would have travelled to several countries across Africa and impacted more lives.

In recognition of her contribution to the development of the country, Tanny Mash walked away with three awards at the recently held Zimbabwe Community Trailblazers Awards.

She won the Youth Champion, Outstanding Community Focussed Programme as well as the Outstanding Youth Empowerment and Development (Young and Great) awards.

Tanny Mash was also the host of the awards ceremony.
