‘Dancing Preacher’ to release debut album

Prophet Mambure, a senior pastor at True Word Church International (Mkoba Assembly), considers music as an interrelated tool in broadcasting teachings on Christianity.

GWERU-based gospel musician Doug Mambure, popularly known in Christian circles as “Dancing Preacher” says his debut gospel musical offering is ready and will be released soon ahead of the official launch.

Prophet Mambure, a senior pastor at True Word Church International (Mkoba Assembly), considers music as an interrelated tool in broadcasting teachings on Christianity.

At the beginning of this year Prophet Mambure released his debut single titled Ndatenda Yahweh.

"The song is trending on 98.4Fm, Gospel Count Down and it is in the top 20,” he said.

“Early February I decided to compile an album titled Tatenda Yahwe as a follow up to the single, I should confidently announce that it's ready and will be released soon.

“On this project l am backed by the True Word Praise team.”

On his journey prior to becoming a gospel musician, Prophet Mambure was quick to point at childhood life experiences .

"Growing up, I was always passionate about music and ministry,” he said.

“I started preaching at the age of 14 and I was ordained at 19 under True Word Church International.

"At that time, l was also actively involved in music but  through playing instruments and then singing in the choir.

"As I deepened my relationship with God, I felt a calling to ministry.

“I began preaching and teaching and l also served as a Pastor under AFM in and of Zimbabwe at a later stage, however, I came back to True Word Church International where l currently serve as a senior pastor."

He added: “It is through this journey that it was revealed to me that music and ministry are powerful tools to convey the message of hope and redemption.”

"Over the years l learnt the two, music and the word evolve, and I am using the gifts to reach out to many for God's glory."

Prophet Mambure, holder of a Doctoral degree in Theology and wears several hats, that includes that of a pastor, musician and academic.

And in addition to his qualifications in education and psychology he recently completed a Masters in Business Administration and Leadership.

"Besides pastoral role and lecturing in various theological colleges, I am a full-time senior lecturer in Psychology at Women's University in Africa," he said.

“On philanthropic works Prophet Mambure is the founding director of Dreamnet Mental Health Clinic, an institution that provides psychological services, counselling, humanitarian relief activities, rehabilitation and child care services.

"However, my primary identity lies in being a servant of God, and I strive to utilise my gifts, knowledge, skills and education to fulfill that calling.”

Pastor Mambure said as a minister of the Word of God and musician, worship should be an expression of joy, and when many could not interpret this the called the “Dancing Preacher” to relate and define my approach.

"Being passionate about  things of God especially when praising and often get me caught up in intimately with the Lord and express my enthusiasm through dance,” he said.

"It's not just about the physical movement, but about surrendering to the presence of God and allowing His joy to overflow within me this got me the name Dancing preacher from the congregation.”

The Dancing Preacher said he was not into gospel music for money or riches instead he wanted to fulfill his mission.

“Gospel music has always been a calling, not a career choice,” he said.

“I've been involved in music ministry through playing keyboard or guitar from a young age, and my passion for sharing gospel through music has grown stronger over time.

“While some may view gospel music as a last resort or a way to make a living, I see it as a sacred trust – an opportunity to use my gifts to point people to Jesus.

“My motivation is not financial gain, but rather to serve the Lord.”

Meanwhile, on the forthcoming album, the Dancing Preacher collaborated with Mai Patai.

The project also features talents like Sedgeweck Nhamo  (Sedge the producer), Sharon Mukafura and Praise Nyaguwa.
