
A big opportunity awaits exhibitors and buyers at the Organisation for Women in International Trade (OWIT) Zimbabwe Open Market Day and exhibition event to be held next Wednesday at the ZRP Golf Club in Harare.
The free-for-all event designed to celebrate and empower women-owned businesses will see men and women touring various exhibition stands and buying the various products and wares that will be available at subsidised rates.
Speaking to Standard Style, OWIT-Zimbabwe president Buhlebenkosi Ostlea Nyathi said everyone is welcome to the exhibition event, which they are hosting in celebration of International Women’s Day with support from various partners and prime exhibitors.
“We are hosting a one of its kind Open Market Day and exhibition event where everyone in attendance has an opportunity to network, tour the exhibition stands and also buy the products and enjoy various services that will be available on the day,” Nyathi said.
“Women led businesses and other corporate giants in the industry are exhibiting and it's an open opportunity for all guests, male and female alike, to come and enjoy what will be on offer.
“We are grateful for the various partners that have weighed in with amazing support to make this event a success and free for all experience.”
While attending and exhibiting at such prime events is usually paid for, the OWIT-Zimbabwe event which is being held in partnership with the Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development ministry is a free for all event thanks to support and sponsorship from various brands.
“We are grateful for the support from various brands and partners which have carried the associated huge costs hence the event is free for all so that we leave no one behind in our quest to empower and celebrate women owned businesses,” Nyathi said.

“Our major support came from leading partners like the Netherlands Embassy in Zimbabwe, Nationak Foods, NMB Bank, Omari, Bonvie Medical Aid, Competitive Brand Shapers, Siyenza and Elysian Essence.
“We are really grateful for their support and we hope the partnership continues in future.”
According to Nyathi, over 300 guests are expected to be part of this year’s event with various brands and women-led organisations showcasing and selling their products.
“We are expecting a full house with over 300 guests having registered their interest to attend and exhibit and we just can’t wait for the day to arrive so that we get to witness the industrial ingenuity of our people,” she said.
“Various brands and women led organisations led by Ecobank Elevate, Prodairy, Kefalos, Securico, Shreveport, TruWellness, Sky Canada Solar and Beautiful Homes to name a few will be showcasing and selling their products at this must-attend event.”
Guest of honour Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development minister Monica Mutsvangwa is expected to deliver a keynote address, tour the exhibition stands and encourage the women to continue working hard.
“Our guest of honour is honourable minister Mutsvangwa who has been very supportive of our women empowerment initiatives and events in Zimbabwe and we are hoping for a powerful event that will help change lives and shape destinies,” Nyathi said.
“We are also going to use the event to unpack various opportunities and initiatives specially tailored for our women led businesses so that they are able to reach their full potential.”
The event is going to be streamed live with a leading radio station in Zimbabwe also broadcasting from the event so that the message of excellence and productivity reaches all.
OWIT-Zimbabwe is part of the global OWIT and the global president Hulya Kurt will deliver a keynote address virtually in support of the local initiative.
