There is no GOAT in Zim: DJ Stavo

DJ Stavo went on to say that "true" GOATs exists in other countries and not currently in Zimbabwe.

WHEELSPINER DJ Stavo, has stirred a hornet's nest by asserting that Zimbabwe lacks a musical artist deserving the (GOAT) title.

“There is no GOAT in Zim currently," he declared, igniting a firestorm online. Fans erupted, vehemently defending their musical idols and challenging the DJ's assertion.

GOAT is a popular acronym that stands for "Greatest Of All Time."

It's used to describe someone who is considered the best in their field, especially in sports and entertainment.

"Everyone loves to throw the word GOAT around greatest of all time. But let's be real. Has anyone in Zimbabwe truly earned that title? asked DJ Stavo

"GOAT status isn't just about hits or hype, it's about global impact, consistency, innovation, and setting the bar so high that no one else comes close."

DJ Stavo went on to say that "true" GOATs exists in other countries and not currently in Zimbabwe.

"Now, before you start naming names, think about this: Has any Zimbabwean artist dominated the world stage like the true GOATS in other countries?, he said.

"Has anyone built a legacy so strong that no one can ever touch it?

Or are we just calling people GOATs for a few hot songs and a little fame. Who really deserves that title in Zim, or are we still waiting for a true GOAT to rise?

Fans came out guns blazing, describing Stavo's demand for "global domination" as a ludicrous yardstick. His criteria have been met with strong resistance from Zimbabwean music enthusiasts.

They dismiss his emphasis on "global domination" as an unreasonable standard, emphasising the profound and lasting impact of artists like Winky D, Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah, and Thomas Mapfumo within Zimbabwe itself.

Fans argue that these artists have shaped the nation's musical landscape, their music resonating across generations, and that their contributions should not be diminished by comparisons to international figures.

They emphasised the importance of local impact, and that the impact these artists have within Zimbabwe is more than enough for them to be considered GOATs.
