UK-based Aunty Rho drops second solo project

The musician told Standard Style that the single is now available on various online music platforms, including on video sharing platform YouTube where she is engaging with her legion of followers.

United Kingdom-based gospel musician Rhoda Chikaponya, popularly known as Aunty Rho in music circles, has released her second solo project, a single titled He Is Lord, which boldly proclaims the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

The new project comes on the heels of the gospel musician’s debut single titled Abundant Grace, which was released at the end of last year.

For someone who has been in the industry for years having been a backup singer of more popular artists, Aunty Rhoda’s latest offering exudes maturity on the part of the musician and the production team.

She walks us through the impression that although Jesus came to Earth as a humble servant, he remained the King of kings.

Inspired by scriptures such as Ephesians 1:20-22 and Romans 10:9-10, the song is a heartfelt declaration of Christ’s supreme authority,

His resurrection power, and His position as master and owner of all.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Aunty Rho shared: “As I studied the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus through scripture, I was deeply stirred.”

“There is none like Him. After His resurrection, He was no longer just called Jesus — but the Lord Jesus.

“He Is Lord is more than a song — it’s a call to spiritual transformation, urging listeners to acknowledge Jesus not just with their minds, but with their hearts and mouths.

“As you listen, be enlightened, transformed, and empowered.”

The musician told Standard Style that the single is now available on various online music platforms, including on video sharing platform YouTube where she is engaging with her legion of followers.

“He Is Lord is now available on all major social media platforms,” she said.

“To everyone who has stood with me and continues to walk with me in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ, may the Lord meet each of you at your point of need?

“Your love, encouragement and extraordinary support mean more than words can express.”

A devoted Christian, Aunty Rho’s music journey began in Gweru, moved to Harare in 1997, and eventually brought her to the United Kingdom in 2002.

“I am blessed with two wonderful children, a boy and a girl.”

Aunty Rho said her singing is inspired by the Word of God.

“I am a devoted follower of the Lord Jesus Christ so singing is part of worship and testifying about the Lord’s goodness brings me immense joy,” she said.

“As it is written in 2 Corinthians 12:9, ‘But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness’.

“In my weakest moments, the songs I sing are God’s way of fortifying me.

She said song writing became her solace after the loss of her mother.

“Unbeknown to me, God was communicating with me through my music,” she said.

The gospel musician said she was making efforts to penetrate the local gospel music scene, having reached out to local radio stations to have her music played.

She was looking forward to collaborations with local gospel musicians and possibly coming to Zimbabwe and ministering the Word live through music.
