FAN favorite annual show, the Bulawayo Shutdown —April edition— has secured a venue at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Main Arena.
The show organisers had suddenly found themselves in a dilemma after Bulawayo City Council declared that the show, scheduled for April 26, could not be held at the Queens Cricket Club as initially planned.Bulawayo mayor David Coltart also asserted that hosting the gig at Queens was going to compromise the preparations for the upcoming cricket matches between New Zealand and South Africa.
“You know this is a people’s show (and) there was bound to be a solution in the end. If anything, people are in greater anticipation for what is to come and we have not changed the line-up but maybe we will have a surprise act or two, who knows,” senior promoter at Harris Continental, Byron Rice told Standard Style.
“We always strive to produce premium quality shows and this one will be on exception…we bring music lovers closer to their favorite artists right here at home in Bulawayo.”ZITF Company marketing and corporate communications manager Thando Nkomo confirmed the developments saying the institution was playing its part in
addressing the evolving needs of the community.
“The ZITF Company has provided space for the Bulawayo Shutdown concert, demonstrating its commitment to fostering an integrated economic landscape within the city’s business ecosystem.
“Recent debate surrounding the concert highlight a unique opportunity for stakeholders across various sectors to unite and collaboratively shape the future of Bulawayo's entertainment industry, reinforcing its vital role in the local economy,” said Nkomo.
