OVER a decade into the music industry, Kwekwe based reggae musician has finally released his debut album.
In an interview with Standard Style, Advokate I said the new project was long overdue and the best time to unleash it was now.
“Music is never about the number of albums, instead it is about celebrating a moment which is now,” he said.
“Music is the message which moves people either way, from sadness to happiness.
“It punctuates time and it creates life time memories.”
The young Redcliff-born musician described the time he spent in South Africa “as an era of revelations”.
“The time l lived in South Africa turned out to be a turning point in my life, it pushed me to limits at a speed l would have never reached had l never witnessed relocation,” Advokate I said.
“There is suffering around, and there are stories to be told. I can best sum all this in snippets into long short stories called songs.
“The experience taught me to be courageous, l learnt to be Zimbabwean amid strangers, l organised musical shows like a professional and connected to regional and international media houses.
“Now l have various friends from different countries, all because it was necessary for the music to find roots in the hearts of many and at the same time l raised the flag of our country high.”
During the 11 years Advokate I has been in the music industry, he released six singles namely Ngatigare Murudo, Up and Down, Long Distance Love, Kumarimuka, I Have Been There and Girl Anthem.
