Lawyer Mthombeni to grace hip-hop session

The monthly event held at Moto Republik, is an all Element Hip Hop event that brings together the main four components rapping, Djaying, breakdancing and graffiti into one realm. Added to those elements is Knowledge in the form of a Masterclass, a bridge to merge art and the business to create a covalent dimension.

BY SINDISO DUBE For the Culture, a hip-hop show which also hosts a masterclass will this month host lawyer, former prosecutor and anti-corruption activist Advocate Dumisani Mthombeni on the monthly curated event.

The monthly event held at Moto Republik, is an all Element Hip Hop event that brings together the main four components rapping, Djaying, breakdancing and graffiti into one realm. Added to those elements is Knowledge in the form of a Masterclass, a bridge to merge art and the business to create a covalent dimension.

The first masterclass featured media gurus and the second edition titled financial literacy in Arts brought financial think thanks led by Fortune Chasi, Mukunda Chiko and PD the Ghost in a bid to empower and impart artists with knowledge on how best to make hay and still survive the rainy days.

Organiser of For The Culture Noble Stylz said: “The good advocate has been the Artist’s oasis in every dry spell.”

“It can be hard facing the wrath of the law while also trying to maintain your brand image hence, the title for this masterclass is Maintaining brand image in the face of adversity.

“No man is better qualified to tackle this subject than the people’s advocate.”

Mthombeni has over a decade of practice and has been Artists go to legal arm in times of adversity having represented Fantan, Levels, Stunner, Ti-Gonzi among a host of other artists.

His marriage with art dates back to 2017 when as the Director of Zero Tolerance-Wise Youth trust, he executively produced an album titled Zero tolerance to corruption, which featured Guspy Warrior, Ngonie Kambarami, Sniper Storm, Platinum Prince, Ninja Lipsy, Xtra Large, Stunner, Ti-Gonzi, Trevor Dongo, Ex-Q, Shinsoman, Pattern Charisma and Tally Bee.
