Gwevedzi returns to Theatre in the Park

Gwevedzi appears to have made Theatre in the Park their home having performed there on  more than three occasions since October 2021.

AFRO-ACOUSTIC group, Gwevedzi, will tomorrow return to the capital for a two-hour performance at Theatre in the Park in Harare Gardens.

Gwevedzi appears to have made Theatre in the Park their home having performed there on  more than three occasions since October 2021.

The band is riding high on its latest and third album titled One that features several plug tracks including Angelina.

The concert organisers Rooftop Promotions said there would be full bar and catering services at Theatre in the Park for those that love music, food, and drink.

Gwevedzi's spokesperson Gladmore Bvuta said they were rehearsing hard ahead of the show.

“This Friday (tomorrow) it’s on again at Theatre in the Park as we continue to deliver the very best in music and dance,” he said.

“We are excited about the show and raring to go. So far, our latest album is doing well and this is something fans should look forward to.”

Formed in 2016 in Harare, Gwevedzi is known for its fusion of Zimbabwe’s modern genres as it samples music from the likes of the late Oliver Mtukudzi and Leonard Dembo.

Bvuta reiterated that the band also aimed to harmonise the people of the world through music.

“Gwevedzi is a Shona name given to a suitor in a courtship between a young lady and a young man to strengthen the love between the two,” he noted.

Gwevedzi’s debut album Tsambo features the hit songs Vhunze, Daira Ndikuone and Bvuma Tiyemerane.

The second album titled Nhungo carries the crowd favourites Malaicha and Ndinouya.
