Reduce gate charges, PSL urged

HERENTALS gaffer Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva has challenged the Premier Soccer League to reduce gate charges for league matches next year to encourage more supporters to come to the stadiums.

Over 10 000 people paid to watch the Chibuku Super Cup final whose admission fee was pegged at US$1.

Despite losing the coveted cup, Mutiwekuziva was impressed by the attendance at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

Herentals lost 1-0 to Bulawayo Chiefs courtesy of an Arthur Musiyiwa first half goal.

For the Herentals gaffer, one of the main take aways was the match attendance.

“We lost but the crowd was impressive and from this, I register myself as one of the people advocating for the gate charges to be reduced,” Mutiwekuziva said.

“Being considered some of the small teams in the league, I think the attendance gave a good picture of what could be the solution for attendance of our local game.”

Mutiwekuziva added: “For us, thus was the largest crowd we have played before since we gained promotion into the league. It’s massive although it came on disappointing note for us.”
