ZIMBABWE Women’s Sevens Rugby team troop into camp this Sunday to prepare for the final leg of the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers in Tunisia.

The Lady Cheetahs are in Pool A together with neighbours South Africa, east African giants Uganda and hosts Tunisa at the Africa Rugby Sevens 2024 Olympics qualifier set for Tunis on October 14 and 15.

The Zimbabwe camp is scheduled to run Harare until October 9. Head coach Cyprian Mandenge has called into camp 21 players, including four South Africa-based stars.

Those coming from South Africa are Tarren Munodaani, Nyasha Gonamombe, Voicy Ndou and Tanya Shava.

“Training has been going on well. We hope to get into camp on Sunday. In terms of monitoring (the South African contingent), it’s a bit difficult because they are that side and I'm here. I can only rely on what their coaches are telling me and the videos that I get from them. But they're playing in good leagues so they should be playing quality rugby out there,” Mandenge told NewsDay Sport.

“I have got girls that have improved a lot and some girls have not missed a single session. When they miss sessions, it’s because of other things beyond their control, they will have compelling reasons. I have been happy generally. This is a final stage, it's a do or die stage. We need to make sure that we are ready.”
