Dynamos in yet another uphill task

FOLLOWING the debilitating home defeat to perennial rivals Highlanders, Dynamos will endure an 800km road trip to face bogey side Hwange in another tough Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) encounter at the Colliery Stadium on Sunday.

In the reverse fixture in March, DeMbare surrendered a 2-0 lead to end the match in a 2-2 stalemate.

Last year, The Glamour Boys emerged victorious over the coalminers at the Colliery before being held to a goalless draw at home.

It has been a roller-coaster season for the Genesis Mangombe-coached Dynamos, who have only managed five wins in 18 matches, beating Bikita Minerals, TelOne, Chegutu Pirates and Arenel Movers   clubs that were promoted to the top league this year.

They also accounted for Green Fuel.

Dynamos drew nine times and lost four matches, leaving them on position six with 24 points.

After the Hwange tie, DeMbare have tricky assignments against rejuvenated Yadah FC (away), Bikita Minerals, Bulawayo Chiefs and Simba Bhora.

FC Platinum lead the pack with 38 points and are currently unstoppable as they return home at Mandava Stadium on Saturday for an explosive fixture against fellow miners Ngezi Platinum, who have stepped up their campaign, sitting on the second spot with 33 points.

Simba Bhora, also with 33 points and third on the log, take their campaign to Chisumbanje, where they will be hosted by Green Fuel at the Green Fuel Arena on Saturday.

Manica Diamonds (32 points) host TelOne at Sakubva on Sunday as they plot to bounce back in the title race after a bit of a slump.

Highlanders, beaming with confidence after subduing Dynamos, will be home on Sunday against Bulawayo Chiefs in a City of Kings derby.

At the bottom of the table are Arenel Movers, who have a tough one against city neighbour Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium on Saturday.

Chegutu Pirates are away to ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga on Saturday.
