Sungura General rules the roost

The Sungura General said he was excited to be topping the list and having his songs played on national radios.

Sungura musician Blessing Gupo "Sungura General" Marezva is ruling the roost on local radio top chats giving a tough time to fellow crooners including Macheso's sons Esau and Tatenda.

Marezva's song Rudo Ndinokupa was number one on Sungura Gango Top 10 hosted by Edias Mafyt Sibanda while Macheso boys' song Dai Mavagonera was second.

The song Rudo Ndinokupa had 3 820 votes while Macheso brothers'  song Dai Mavagonera had 3 810.

The Sungura General said he was excited to be topping the list and having his songs played on national radios.

"Competition is good, l am very happy to be voted ahead of Macheso boys. the guys are so good and it gives me pride that our songs are in the race," Marezva said.

The musician is hoping that his fans will continue to support him and become one of the best by the end of the year.

"The support I am getting is overwhelming. I hope this year l will be among the best artistes because people seem to enjoy my products and with their support l am aiming big," he said.

However, the genre of sungura has stiff competition with the King of Sungura Alick Macheso, Mark Ngwazi, Romeo Gasa, Simon Mutambi and Nicholas Zacharia being the heavy weights.
