WITH nothing much to write home about on the field of play, attention turned to off field drama where the hosts Bulawayo City accused Black Rhinos FC of fielding an eligible player in midfielder Joe Nyabinde.

According to City communication they received from the PSL, Nyabinde was suspended for the game yet Rhinos fielded him.

Rhinos FC coach Herbert Maruwa said after the game  that he was not in a position to comment on the issue as the matter was purely administrative.

Commenting on the game itself Maruwa said: “It’s a fair result. The point gained is going to add value to us at the end of the weekend.”

His opposite number Farai Tawachera was disappointed that they could not get three points at home.

“It was a difficult game. Obviously, when you play at home you want to win but that was not the case today,” said Tawachera.

It was an evenly balanced tie in the first stanza as the two teams failed to create clear cut chances.

Black Rhinos came close after 28 minutes with Stanley Murove watching his header go a few meters wide.

Farai Banda had done well on the left to find Murove inside the box, but he couldn’t connect with his head.

A minute later Welcome Ndiweni’s rising effort from outside the box hit the crossbar for the hosts. Ndiweni  had been neatly set up by Nqobile Ndlovu on the edge of the box.

Substitute Dalubuhle Dlodlo had an opportunity to win the game for the hosts, but watched his left booted effort from inside the box go wide.

At the other end Brighton Christopher also failed to convert a free header with just under three minutes left to play.

At the National Sports Stadium, Herentals played a goalless draw with ZPC Kariba.
