A 19-YEAR-OLD Mvurwi man drowned while trying to find bathing soap that had slipped into a river where he was taking a bath.

Maxwel Mutema of Barwick farm, drowned in Mukwadzi River.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the incident. He said Mutema’s body was yet to be retrieved.

Mutema was in the company of his twin brother Clever and a friend identified as Anyway Magetsi on the fateful day.

A bathing soap they were using slipped into the river and Mutema dived into the water to retrieve it, but drowned.

His brother and Magetsi tried to rescue him to no avail.
