Praz honoured with quality management certificate

Speaking at the certificate handover ceremony in Harare yesterday, Praz board chairperson Vimbai Nyemba said the certification was a step towards the authority’s transformation.

THE Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Praz) has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certificate, an internationally-recognised standard for public procurement.

Speaking at the certificate handover ceremony in Harare yesterday, Praz board chairperson Vimbai Nyemba said the certification was a step towards the authority’s transformation.

“This achievement reflects Praz’s strong leadership, effective processes, and adherence to international standards,” Nyemba said.

“This certification has the effect of countering corruption in the delivery of the authority’s sensitive mandate and positively influencing public perception on procurement.”

Nyemba added: “We must remain vigilant in our pursuit of excellence and always seek to improve our quality management practices. We must challenge ourselves to go beyond the minimum requirements and seek opportunities for innovation and growth in the public procurement space.”

According to Nyemba, the certification enhances the organisation’s credibility and reputation.

ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification holds significant value in the context of public procurement.

It demonstrates that an organisation has established a robust quality management system and adheres to international standards.

Government is instituting several reforms to the public procurement processes to plug leakages and ensure contracts are awarded on merit.
