Disquiet over Zanu PF candidates

Local

Zanu PF supporters from Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park constituency have raised concerns over the selection of representatives, which they say favours men.

The recently elected ruling party candidates in the constituency include ward 15 aspiring councillor Charles Madumejah, Ward 28 aspiring councillor Arthur Mujeyi, Ward 6 aspiring councillor Kidwel Mujuru and Finance minister Mthuli Ncube who is running for MP.

Cowdray Park resident, Nontokozo Ndlovu said the concentration of male figures in the structures was disturbing.

“It’s disheartening to know that the ruling party does not value women. The women contest for these positions but are never selected,” Ndlovu said.

“Some believe the party portrays women as weak and do not deserve to lead. Otherwise, how do they explain this discrimination in their structures.”

Nomvelo Mathe another resident said women were being left out in position of power.
