Police last Friday arrested six men after they were caught skinning four head of cattle that were stolen at a farm in Chegutu at night the previous day.
The six were arrested along the Harare-Bulawayo highway after they were chased by villagers, who found them skinning the cattle.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of six suspects in connection with a case of stocktheft where four cattle were stolen at Plot 8, Chikanga Farm, Chegutu during the night on January 2,” police said in a statement yesterday.
“The suspects are Owen Tinashe Mandizvidza Mutungamiri (25), Philip Chirasasa (28), Lloyd Chirasasa (44), David Chirasasa (28), Peter Chirasasa (32) and Abel Chirasasa (30).
“On 03/01/25 at around 0230 hours, police in Saruwe received information that the suspects were travelling in a Toyota Noah vehicle, reg number ADP 440, along Harare-Bulawayo Road after they were chased by alert members of the community while deboning the stolen cattle.
“A roadblock was set up leading to the arrest of the suspects. The arrest led to the recovery of four deboned carcasses, 25 kitchen knives and 25 sacks.”
