FORMER Warriors forward Nyasha Mushekwi continues to score for fun for Zhejiang Greentown in the Chinese League One after extending his lead at the top of the scoring charts with another goal in his team’s 1-1 draw away to Jiangxi Beidamen on Friday.
The 34-year-old former Mamelodi Sundowns forward found the back of the net in the 88th minute to rescue a point for Zhejiang Greentown.
Jiangxi Beidamen had taken the lead on the hour mark through Tang Quirun before being reduced to 10 men after Zhang Ye was given his marching orders on 77 minutes.
Mushekwi made sure Zhejiang Greentown took advantage of the numerical advantage by scoring a late equaliser to take his tally to 18 goals in 22 appearances.
The former CAPS United and Mamelodi Sundowns is now four goals clear of second placed Kingsley Onuegbu on top of the Chinese League One top scores charts and a firm favourite to win the league’s golden boot award.
Mushekwi has been in red hot form for Zhejiang Greentown this season. His latest goal completed a stunning run in which he has scored a goal in each of his club’s last three matches.
His goals have been pivotal in spearheading Zhejiang’s race for promotion to the top tier China Super League.

Zhejiang are currently in third position on the Chinese League One table with 52 points from 24 games, six points behind log leaders Meizhou Hakka who are on 58 points after 24 games.
The top two teams gain promotion to the Chinese Super League while third and fourth head into a promotion play-offs.
Mushekwi, who has also played for clubs in South Africa, Sweden and Belgium since leaving CAPS United over a decade ago, is now into his sixth year in China having first joined Dalian Yifang in 2016 before helping them attain promotion to the Chinese top tier league.
He was the top goal scorer for Yifang in three consecutive seasons before joining Zhejiang Greentown in 2019.
