Golf Zone: Mogold Global golf event set for April

The event which was initially penciled for Kenya and Zimbabwe last month only took place in Kenya and will now include other countries such as Zambia, Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe when it takes place in April.

Mogold Global and Safari, Zimbabwe - Kenya Golf Tour has been remodeled and is now scheduled to take place in April this year.

The event which was initially penciled for Kenya and Zimbabwe last month only took place in Kenya and will now include other countries such as Zambia, Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe when it takes place in April.

Mogold Global’s Golden Makusha revealed that the tournament is now set for April.

“In Zimbabwe we are going to have it in Victoria Falls and then Lusaka (Zambia) and then we take it to Botswana and then South Africa. That’s the tour we are going to do in April from the 3 rd  week of April to the fourth week,” Makusha told Golf Zone.

“In August we are going to do a US –Tour in areas such as the East Coast, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia and Florida .We want to make this an annual major golf event with a lot of prizes around it. We want to start bringing awareness, getting people to know that this tournament is coming.

“We had a press conference (last year) but I was not here, my guys came over in October at Royal Harare, we were advising thinking that we will stage it in 2023 but we only managed to do it in Kenya last year,” he added.

The organization launched the two part golf initiative to take place in both Zimbabwe and Kenya at the end of last year which would see the participation of local and diaspora-based golfers in a tournament aimed at promoting tourism and strengthening cultural ties within Africa and the USA.

"As  Mogold Global we are not about what our country (Zimbabwe) has done for us but what we have done for our country. The purpose of our gathering today is to discuss the strategic initiative which is close to our hearts which is in line with our mission and vision," Mogold Global

Operations Director Terence Marks said during a launch press conference in October last year.

"The Mogold Global Safari Zimbabwe - Kenya Golf Tour is a testament of our dedication to promoting tourism and fortifying cultural ties within Africa as well as between Africa, Europe and the USA.

"Our vision at MOGOLD is crystal clear, to increase our footprint and involvement across diverse nations ensuring that no sport community and opportunity is left unexplored.

“We are committed to the development of the African nations," Marks added.
