Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL) chairperson Theresa Maguraushe has revealed plans to professionalise the league, increase competitions, and improve player welfare.
Maguraushe expressed her excitement about the league's prospects, particularly with the introduction of camping allowances for national team players.
However, she emphasised the need for more comprehensive support.
"To succeed at the Africa Women Cup of Nations (Awcon), our players need to be fitter than they were at Cosafa," Maguraushe told The Sports Hub.
"We must secure sponsors to facilitate competitions and adequate preparation."
The ZWPSL chairperson also highlighted the importance of increasing competitions to help players prepare for national team duties.
She expressed confidence that the newly elected Zifa board, which includes more women, will positively impact the game.
She also emphasised the need to prioritise player welfare, particularly the girl child.

"We want to see the welfare of the girl child introduced at the national level cascade down to the league, so we have to work round the clock to rope in partners," she said.
In addition, the ZWPSL has outlined plans to standardise women's soccer league badges, qualification, and accreditation of technical members.
The league will also prioritise player safety and security, ensuring ambulances and police presence during matches.
Facilities Inspections for the new season were scheduled for February 7 to ensure stadiums meet the required standards.
The ZWPSL will work closely with Zifa to ensure compliance with Confederation of African Football (Caf) club licensing regulations," said Maguraushe.
