The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is intensifying its preparations for the 2025-2026 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by establishing an ad hoc committee dedicated to overseeing the country's participation in Morroco in December.
ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi revealed that the committee, once ratified by Congress, will focus on all aspects of the team's preparations, including logistics and promotions.
"One of the things outlined in our 100-day plan was to set up an ad hoc committee specifically tasked with AFCON 2025-2026 preparations," Magwizi told The Standard Sport.
Magwizi revealed that he intends to send a team to Morocco as early as April to finalise logistics and ensure that everything is in place for the team's participation in the tournament.
Zimbabwe's home games for Group B will be played in Marrakech, and Magwizi is determined to make sure that all arrangements are made well in advance.
In addition to the committee's work, ZIFA is also engaging in stakeholder engagement, including the government, co-presidents, legends, and fans.
"We are engaging everyone," Magwizi said.
"We are also setting up a fan club for the Warriors. All this is being done to ensure that we have a smooth hour for 2025-2026."

Magwizi emphasised the importance of involving stakeholders early on to avoid chaos later on.
"Because if we don't get them involved early enough, we are going to have chaos," he warned.
Meanwhile, ZIFA is also working on securing more sponsors for the national team. Magwizi revealed that some partners have already pledged their support online, and ZIFA will be sending out formal proposals to potential partners in the coming days.
"We need to make sure that whatever we are doing, it is in alignment with the statutes of FIFA," he said.
"We are very excited. The fact that we have had people in different places, some of whom we have never met, who are so excited and already pledging things for the national team, is exciting."
With the AFCON preparations underway, Magwizi is optimistic about Zimbabwe's chances of success.
"We are excited about the prospects of the national team," he said.
"We believe that with the right preparations and support, we can achieve great things."
