(1)(1)MWOS ...,..........................(0)(1)Bikita Minerals FC and new boys MWOS FC played to a 1-1 draw in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League,in a thrilling encounter yesterday at Sakubva Stadium in an exciting display of talent and determination from both sides.
The home team, Bikita Minerals FC, broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Pascal Shumba capitalized on a loose ball in midfield, navigating through a cluster of poorly positioned MWOS defenders and squared it to the powerful Jerry Ruzive, who made no mistake in beating MWOS goalkeeper Martin Mapisa.
This goal ignited wild celebrations among the sizeable home crowd.
However, MWOS responded just after the halftime break. In the 47th minute, winger Billy Vheremu was brought down by defender Carlton Munzambwa, earning his team a penalty.
Referee Trinity Dirwai pointed to the spot, and Vheremu confidently converted, sending the impressive Tawanda Dendera the wrong way and leveling the score.
The first half saw MWOS dominate possession, but they failed to capitalize on several clear scoring opportunities. Supported by a passionate fan base, it seemed as if they were playing on home turf, yet they could not find the back of the net.
The second half erupted with end-toend action as both teams fought for supremacy. MWOS nearly took the lead in the 71st minute when Vheremu found himself one-on-one with Mapisa following a defensive error by Pearson Mukuwa, but he failed to convert.
As the match progressed, Bikita Minerals FC stepped up their game and looked the stronger side in the closing stages.

Despite their efforts, time was not on their side, and the match ended in a draw.
Bikita Minerals FC coach Wilson Mutekede reflected on the match.
“It was a fair result. They dominated and had a game plan controlling the midfield. Fortunately, we utilized the chance that came our way in the first half. In the second half, we were more determined and read their game well, but we conceded a goal from a reckless tackle," said Mutekede.
MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa expressed disappointment over missed chances.
“It was a very tough match. We failed to utilise the chances we created and conceded a goal that we could have avoided. We have young players who are still learning, but I am happy to take the point home,” he said.
