Non-Profit Organisation Junior Chamber International (EJCI) City successfully held its annual fundraiser golf day to raise funds for the different projects and programmes they run every year.
Junior Chamber International is a leadership development organisation of young people between the ages of 18 and 40 who are keen on making a positive impact in their communities.
The organisation has used golf as a fundraising initiative since the late 1990s and has also used other sport codes such as football.
“The Junior Chamber International annual golf day is a key calendar event where we play with a purpose to raise funds for our different projects and programmes in our areas of opportunity so specifically this year under every area of opportunity we have a project that is running and the fund from this tournament goes straight to the projects” JCI City Local president Takudzwa Makuwa.
“So as JCI we provide leadership development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change. We do this through our four areas of opportunity which is individual development, community impact, business and entrepreneurship and international collaboration.”
“Under individual developmentI we have what we call Speak Like a Champ which is a programme that is designed to empower members in terms of public speaking so that they can better their public speaking skills and on business and entrepreneurship we have Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship which is a programme that is designed to equip our members and other youth in the society with entrepreneurial skills that help them sustain themselves” he said.
“Then for community project we have a project at Nyaradzo Children's Home where we are planting tomatoes in their greenhouse as well as planting watermelons and onions in their garden space and also for international collaboration we have a tuning project with another JCI local organisation in Hong Kong as well as in South Africa.
The event was made possible with the help of partners such as Peech Boutique Hotel, Zimparks, Securico, ZuvaPon and Play, National Foods, Stanbic Bank and Pixational Media.
