NGEZI Platinum star coach Benjani Mwaruwari recorded his first win for the club at the Baobab Stadium following a dominant display against visiting Mutare-based Tenax yesterday.
A brace by Wayne Makuva, who scored in each half, was the toast of the hosts performance while inform striker Tinotenda Murasiranwa and Delic Murimba chipped in with the other goals.
The triumph saw Mwaruwari’s side bounce back to winning ways after a slump in the two previous games while it was the first time that Ngezi Platinum Stars scored more than one goal since the ex-Manchester City player took over at the end of March.
It was the former Warriors striker’s second win as Ngezi Platinum Stars coach in six matches having also managed three draws and one defeat.
Playing at home, Mwaruwari had only managed two draws and a narrow 1 – 0 defeat to Harare City two weeks ago.

Mwaruwari was a green horn, lacking experience when Ngezi Platinum made a bold decision to give him the reins at one of the top teams in the country and it has been a brilliant start for the former Warriors captain.
He was elated by the emphatic win and almost ran out of superlatives to praise his charges.
“I have always said that my boys are improving every day and they are willing to improve. They are listening and I love their discipline. We are like a family that’s very important in a team. Everyone wants to be together, they want to play for each other, they are fighting for each other. That is very important and I am happy with that. I hope they will continue doing that,” he said after the match.
Ahead of the tie Mwaruwari was also full of praise for his team and the progress they have made since he came and it was no surprise when Ngezi Platinum turned on the power to dispatch Tenax.
Makuva opened the floodgates as early as the third minute before Murasiranwa expertly rounded off the goalkeeper to double the scores about 10 minutes later.
Ngezi Platinum needed just four second half minutes to net the third, Makuva completing his brace straight from a corner kick and Murimba rose from the bench to complete the rout late in the game.
At the National Sports Stadium, flamboyant side Bulawayo Chiefs continued with their revival in the league after they managed a one all draw against Herentals.
The stalemate saw the Nilton Terroso coached side extending their unbeaten run to six matches, which has helped them to move into the top 10 after struggling earlier in the season.
Perfect Chikwende gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of halftime before Herentals equalised through John Zhuwawo moments after the resumption.
