Power Giants conquers Africa

Power Giants Africa boss Edzai Kachirekwa and wife Evelyn Tinashe

Power Giants CEO Edzai Kachirekwa on Friday walked home with the Business of the Year Power Development and Renewable Energy Services Industry Africa Sadc Region award at the Zambia Business Awards.

Kachirekwa’s company, Power Giants Africa, also received the Company of the Year, Power Development and Renewable Energy Services Industry, Africa Sadc Region award.

This is not the first time that Kachirekwa has received recognition on the regional front, having been selected among 100 Africa Most Influential Persons for his contribution to the continent’s development trajectory in May.

In June, Kachirekwa was awarded the Businessman of the Year Award, Africa Sadc Regional Business, Energy and Industrialisation at the Zambia Africa Business Forum, Summit & Awards held in Lusaka.

At the same summit, Power Giants Africa walked away with the Company of the Year award.

Kachirekwa was also conferred by the International Institute of Philanthropy with the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in recognition of his “significant contribution to humanity and philanthropy”.

“I am actually in awe, these awards are a true testimony of how my Zimbabwean brothers, sisters, parents, children, my family and the media fraternity have supported this vision,” Kachirekwa said.

“I am so much humbled as this is the departure point to bigger things to come, Sadc and the African continent at large has accepted my strategies and solutions to change the energy landscape in Africa.

“I am hopeful that Zimbabwe will reach 10 000MW before 2030 and I want to thank the organizers of the events for recognizing our efforts at Power Giants Africa.

“Allow me to thank in public my spiritual father and mother  Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa and Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa, my wife Dr Evelyn Tinashe Kachirekwa, my in-laws, Pastor Elias and Mercy Hwenga; they are the driving force behind my success, they have encouraged me they have supported me spiritually and physically.”

Locally Kachirekwa has received a number of awards and accolades.
